The French Estate is one of the oldest venues in Orange County and easily one of the most charming. It’s always a pleasure to cater weddings and special occasions at this historic site.
Last Saturday we had the great pleasure of returning to one of our favorite venues to cater for a beautiful wedding and we had a fantastic time. From an exquisite menu line up to meeting some of the nicest people ever, it was definitely one occasion we won’t soon forget.
Here’s a quick little video showcasing some of the fun we had that day:
Built in 1892, this monument to Orange County’s rich history, has been a residence and special event venue for more than a hundred years. Named after one of its famed occupants Judge French and his family, who took residence here for more than 20 years, this beautiful property has now hosted over 500 weddings, murder mystery parties and countless special events throughout the year.
After visiting the venue over the weekend it’s clear it’s timelessness has endured and it always seems like a trip back in time every time we’re selected to be here.
The property features a front yard, the main house and the backyard or courtyard area. Similar to previous events, we were situated strategically near the garage or guest house area. We were off in the corner, but definitely near the festivities.

Once our crew arrived it was time to set up get the festivities going. After the cart was assembled, we immediately started work on the appetizers.
For this occasion we had the pleasure serving three main items: Espadillas de Fruta, Albondigas and Tostaditas de Soyrizo.

The Espadillas de Fruta featured cubes of watermelon and ripe mango skewered into a layer of sweet, traditional chamoy sauce.
Our savory meatballs, or Albondigas, consist of hand-rolled beef stuffed with figs and blanketed with a rich salsa for added flavor and texture.
And, for those who prefer a another meat-free option we were proud to offer our soybased Tostadita de Soyrizo, featuring freshly grilled soyrizo on a bed of creamy guacamole.
Our Albondigas appetizers are hand rolled in our kitchen and stuffed with dates for that savory sweet experience. One of the ways we helped accommodate guests looking for a meatless option was to serve up our Tostadita de Soyrizo appetizers. Made with fresh grilled soyrizo on top of creamy guacamole and served on a crisp tostadita, it was a terrific option for for all palates. Another fantastic meatless option was our sweet espadillas de fruta appetizers. Made with farm fresh produce and served with traditional Chamoy sauce it was an absolute hit!
Once these hand-held delights were prepared, each tray was taken to the interior of the house and set on the table in the foyer. From there guests would either come in and serve themselves or the able and skilled bussers would pass them around for a more personal service.

After guests gobbled up the tasty appetizers, it was time to prepare the grill for the featured meal of the day, our delightful selection of tacos.
For this special occasion we had the pleasure of serving up our savory carne asada, hand-prepared pollo asado, vibrant veggie tacos and our succulent shrimp tacos.
The moment these ingredients hit the grill the hypnotic aromas filled the courtyard, drawing all the guests closer to the taco cart. But alas everyone had to wait their turn to be served one table at time. We’re pretty sure that must have been excruciating!
Once called by the DJ to approach the cart, guests would then place their order with one of our friendly cooks. Then, once they had their plate of tacos they were able to add sides such as fluffy lemon rice and rich, creamy black beans.
Crispy, fresh made tortilla chips on the salsa & condiments table. A view of the taco cart from the salsa and condiments and salsa table. Adding roasted red tomato salsa to carne asada. One way for guests to round out their meals was to add a generous serving of lemon rice.
Of course the fun didn’t stop there! Guests then had the chance to customize their own taco masterpiece with a plethora of tantalizing salsas and condiments. Such as our sweet mango salsa, vine ripened heirloom tomato pico de gallo, spicy salsa de jalapeno and much, much more.
And, to help wash it all down we had the pleasure of offering our traditional horchata and pineapple aguas frescas. So much good food!
We’re definitely no strangers to The French Estate, but each time we cater there it’s always a magical moment we won’t soon forget.
We want to thank the lovely bride and groom for selecting SOHO TACO for their special day. Also we would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity to serve their loved ones. And, of course we would like to thanks the staff of The French Estate for their warm hospitality.
Thanks again and we look forward to serving everyone again soon.
Buen provecho!
