| The term “Refried Beans” to an English speaker can be misleading. In Mexican Spanish, the prefix “re-” means “very” or “well”, not “repetition” as it does in English. So, frijoles refritos really means “well-fried beans”. However, our beans are boiled, not fried, making the term “refried” a double misnomer! Well, regardless of the etymology our side dish always translates into something creamy, satisfying and delicious.
